Ian Wright and Alan Shearer have both backed Chelsea to win the Premier League this season after signing Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan.
The Blues have looked a far stronger side since Thomas Tuchel’s appointment in January, with the German guiding them to a fourth placed league finish and a Champions League trophy last season.
Chelsea started off the new season with a thrilling 3-0 victory over recently-appointed Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace side on Saturday.
And with £97.2million striker Romelu Lukaku still to be integrated with the match-day squad, Premier League legends Shearer and Wright believe Chelsea are capable of winning their first league title since 2017.
Speaking on BBC’s Match of the Day, Shearer said: “It’ll be a lot tighter this season than it was last season.
“Lukaku for Chelsea I think will be a game-changer. That’s exactly what they need.
“The number of times last season they got balls into the box, and even today [against Crystal Palace] we were sat thinking, ‘he’d be on the end of that’.
“There’s no doubt about it, he almost guarantees them goals, they won’t miss as many chances this season with him in the team.”

When asked who would win the title, both former England internationals were in agreement that the Blues have enough firepower to dethrone Manchester City.
Shearer said: “I’m going to go for Chelsea. Even if City get Kane.”
Wright also replied: “I’m going to go for Chelsea as well now they’ve got Rom.”
Tuchel’s side make the short trip across the capital to the Emirates Stadium next Sunday where they face Arsenal in the league.
The Blues will be confident of grabbing all three points after the Gunners’ lacklustre 2-0 defeat to Brentford but will still need to be cautious of what their London rivals bring on the day.
