Wrexham stars show up Premier League counterparts on big night out
Ben Foster advises Wrexham teammates to savour the promotion feeling
Ben Foster has suggested Premier League and Championship stars would never have celebrated with fans in the same way as Wrexham players did after winning the National League. Foster and co partied in the Welsh town hours after their win over Boreham Wood sealed the title after a season-long battle with Notts County.
Wrexham have been one of the most interesting stories of the football season after their success since the club was bought by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The Red Dragons have returned to the EFL for the first time since 2008 after pipping Notts County to the title after a season-long battle.
Foster has played an important role for the club despite only joining the club with eight matches still to go. The 40-year-old saved a last-minute penalty in the title decider against Notts County, an intervention which proved to be crucial in the title run-in.
Now, Foster has detailed the club’s celebrations after the title was sealed suggesting they would not be repeated in the Premier League or Championship.
“At around midnight a few of the lads were just like ‘we’re going go for a walk around Wrexham now’, we were going to go to a few bars and clubs and stuff so we just started walking down,” Foster explained on his YouTube channel.

“There were people everywhere, there were players everywhere, fans like it was just so good that nobody cared.
“This is the thing you’d never do this in the Premier League, even the Championship you’d never do it in because the players are too big-time. The players don’t want that. But the lads didn’t care. They were just wanting to revel in it and they wanted the fans to enjoy it as well.”
Although Foster did admit he felt bad for the cleaning staff at the Racecourse Ground with the players leaving the changing rooms in a state as they partied immediately after the game.

“There were just puddles of beer and mud,” he explained. “It was horrible. Wet towels on the floor, I feel sorry for whoever had to clean the changing rooms actually because they were a disgrace, genuinely they were, and it stunk honestly.
“Beer on the wall stunk, it was horrible. So I got in there, quickly got showered and went over to Rob and Ryan’s box.”
Wrexham finished the season away at Torquay, playing out a 1-1 draw courtesy of a late Elliot Lee equaliser.
