Wrexham owner Ryan Reynolds splashes out on new pad in Welsh village

Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds has reportedly bought a new lavish house in north Wales as he continues showing commitment to his long-term project with Rob McElhenney. The Hollywood stars could reap the rewards of their investment this season as Wrexham pursue promotion from the National League.

According to The Sun, Reynolds has expanded his property list by purchasing a four-bed pad in Marford, a small village around five miles north-east of Wrexham.

The 46-year-old currently lives in a £4.3million home in New York with his wife, Blake Lively, 35, and their children.

However, his latest buy indicates that he plans to spend more time in the UK as Wrexham close in on the Football League.

A Sun source said: “Ryan is moving to Marford, and it’s all the locals can talk about. His house is on the poshest road.

“The most famous person from Marford is Tim Vincent from Blue Peter, so a Hollywood star is a step up!

“It might not be the Big Apple, but the red carpet will be rolled out when Ryan comes to town.”

Reynolds and McElhenney, 45, bought Wrexham in November 2020 and instantly became popular figures among the locals.

Season ticket sales doubled in the 2020/21 season from 2,609 to 5,892, a figure that increased again to over 6,800 in the 2021/22 campaign.

Shirt sales also rocketed, given the newfound global interest in Wrexham’s fortunes through popular Disney+ series, ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.

National League attendance records at the Racecourse Ground have also been smashed in what many consider the start of a true Hollywood story.

Last season, Wrexham agonisingly missed out on promotion to League Two after finishing second in the National League before losing 5-4 to Grimsby Town in extra-time.

They’re engaged in an even fiercer battle this term, level on a staggering 100 points with Notts County, 25 points ahead of third-place Woking.

Wrexham, who hold a game in hand over their rivals, host Notts County in a mouth-watering clash at the Racecourse Ground this afternoon (Monday), where the stakes couldn’t be much higher.
