Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney has revealed he's been diagnosed with "a host of neurodevelopmental disorders".

He tweeted: "I was recently diagnosed with a host of neurodevelopmental disorders and learning disabilities! At 46! I go through the full diagnosis/prognosis on the @thesunnypodcast (which drops in two weeks).

"It’s not something I would normally talk about publicly but I figured there are others who struggle with similar things and I wanted to remind you that you’re not alone. You’re not stupid. You’re not 'bad'. It might feel that way sometimes. But it’s not true :)."

McElhenney, who took over Welsh club Wrexham with fellow actor Ryan Reynolds in February 2021, presents The Always Sunny Podcast with co-stars Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton. The next episode is due to be released on July 24.

Neurodevelopmental disorders impact the growth and development of the central nervous system (the brain and the spinal cord). Common examples include autism and ADHD.

McElhenney was hailed for his decision to speak out about his situation on social media. One Wrexham fan replied: "So amazing Rob, thank you for sharing and helping thousands who may be struggling."

A second commented: "Inspiration. This is going to be such a help to many out there." And a third wrote: "We love you boss."

"THIS. Thanks for speaking up chief," said a fourth, while a fifth Red Dragons supporter added: "Thanks for sharing and showing how not to be afraid. You’re the best!"

Earlier on Tuesday (July 11), McElhenney and Reynolds announced HP as Wrexham's latest sponsor ahead of their return to the Football League kicking off next month.

In a joint-statement, they wrote: “HP was born in a garage in 1939 and has become one of the leading technology brands in the world. Wrexham Association Football Club was born in a bar in 1864 and is on its way to great things.

“We could not think of a better partner on this ride, for the club and the community. Plus, our tech game really needs an upgrade. Pretty sure we still have flying toasters as screensavers on some of our computers.”
