Wrexham hero tipped to make appearance in Ryan Reynolds’ Marvel hit Deadpool 3

Wrexham hero Paul Mullin has been tipped to make a sensational appearance in Ryan Reynolds' new Deadpool movie.

The Merseyside marksman, 28, has enjoyed another scintillating season at the Wales-based outfit, rattling in 35 goals to lift the Red Dragons to the summit of the National League.

Wrexham are four points clear of title-rivals Notts County, having beaten Luke Williams' men 3-2 at the Racecourse Ground in a fifth-tier thriller earlier this month, with only one automatic promotion spot to the Football League on offer.

Already shining on the Disney Plus series 'Welcome to Wrexham', Mullin could now be back on our screens as part of Marvel blockbuster Deadpool 3, starring alongside club co-owner Reynolds.

Mullin's possible appearance was put to Wrexham Executive Director Humphrey Ker on talkSPORT’s breakfast programme and the comedian did not rule out a cameo role.

"I genuinely don’t know for sure," said Ker when asked by Ally McCoist if Wrexham could feature in the upcoming trilogy. "I’ve not had this conversation but I’d be quite surprised if not. Ryan is very good at layering through all his different parts and elements of his life and his career, they all intersect in all sorts of different ways.

"I think that there were Aviation Gin references in the last one, and I’m sure there will be… who knows, Paul Mullin to play an X-Men, who knows?"

Hollywood A-lister Reynolds, alongside TV star Rob McElhenney, completed a full takeover of Wrexham in 2020, and the duo have overseen a huge turn in the club's fortunes, largely down to their new sizeable bank balance.

The Red Dragons' finances saw League Two top scorer Mullin arrive at the Racecourse in the summer of 2021, on the back of 32 goals in the fourth tier, while forward Ollie Palmer joined from League One Wimbledon in January 2022.

Most recently, the club's star-studded squad received a further boost through the arrival of ex-Premier League shot-stopper Ben Foster, who saved a 96th-minute penalty on Easter Monday to deny Notts County a point. Wrexham can seal the league title with a victory over play-off chasing Boreham Wood on Saturday (April 22nd).
