Wrexham fans have hit out at the pre-order process for the club’s new home kit, with supporters expressing frustration with scalpers advertising the £55 shirts for as much as £180 on resale websites.
The Welsh club, owned by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, unveiled the home shirt for their return to the EFL on Monday and began taking pre-orders.
Fans have complained of long waits to order the shirts online, with the club shop website crashing amid high demand.
Wrexham supporters have also expressed concerns having been charged for multiple orders, despite being told their order had not been processed.
‘Banking app currently telling me I had $776.58 on hold… that’s because the site continues to crash and told me my order never went through,’ one fan tweeted.

‘Really hope this can be sorted quickly once the dust settles’.
Wrexham had limited fans to a maximum of four shirts per order, but their website has struggled under the demand for the shirts.
‘Please note, we are aware of delays on the shop website and are working on this,’ Wrexham’s twitter account wrote.
‘Please rest assured, orders are going through, albeit with some delays, and shirts are in stock. Sorry for any inconvenience.’
Fans have also hit out at ‘disgraceful’ scalpers online who have been seeking to cash in on interest in the Red Dragons, with the club’s profile having soared internationally under their Hollywood owners.

‘Real fans missing out while scalpers make a quick profit,’ one fan tweeted.
‘Until the club can meet the demand and have a shopping experience that actually works this will only continue to happen. How is it still this bad?’

‘They should have staggered the pre-orders, season ticket, membership, everyone else,’ another fan wrote. ‘Wouldn’t have made a huge difference but would have curbed some of this.’
Wrexham’s Macron kits include their front-of-shirt sponsors United Airlines, with Reynolds and McElhenney having unveiled the American-based air carrier as a backer last week.
The Disney+ ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ docu-series that followed the club’s journey through their first campaign after the takeover has helped the side gain widespread recognition in the United States.
Wrexham gained promotion to League Two after finishing top of the National League with a record breaking 111 points.
The Welsh club are viewed as likely challengers for promotion in League Two, as they make their return to the EFL after a 15-year absence.
