‘Worst free kick ever’ has fans joking it’s ‘straight from the training ground’
Porto produced what was quickly labelled the "worst free-kick ever" in their opening game of the season.
Last year's Liga Portugal runners-up got their new campaign underway against newly-promoted Moreirense on Monday (August 14) night.
After a goalless first half away from home, they shockingly found themselves behind shortly after the restart as Dutch defender Godfried Frimpong put the hosts ahead.
As Porto pushed for an equaliser, they resorted to a bizarre set-piece routine which completely wasted a free-kick in an opportunistic position. Winger Otavio stood over it.

He faked a delivery into the box with his right foot, before left-footed team-mate Wendell did the same. Otavio then played a pass straight out of play for a goal kick, putting his head in his hands afterwards.
It was soon clipped up on social media, with one fan replying: "Worst free-kick ever." A second joked: "Straight from the training ground."
A third teased: "That must be so hard to pull off, I'm guessing hundreds of hours of training…" And a fourth similarly quipped: "Early contender for set-piece routine of the season from Porto."

"Never let them know your next move," commented a fifth, while a sixth argued: "The beginning was clearly a dance step." As it went viral, Porto fans began venting their frustrations.
One fumed: "I'm a Porto fan and this happens every game, our free kicks are never dangerous for our opponent." Another echoed: "We see this on a daily basis it's disgraceful."
Fortunately for them, their side bounced back from the disastrous attempt minutes later and did level the score through forward Toni Martinez.
Left-back Wendell then completed the comeback with a little over 15 minutes to go. The drama didn't stop there, though, as he was sent off for a second yellow card in stoppage time.
