There are just three games remaining at the 2022 World Cup but each one is critically important, starting with France and Morocco’s intriguing semi-final match-up on Wednesday evening. Argentina hero Lionel Messi stole the headlines on Tuesday night with a dominant display against Croatia, booking the Albiceleste’s spot in Sunday’s final.

Argentina are one of the best-supported teams in Qatar with supporters confident that they can go all the way for the first time since 1986. Messi certainly has plenty of incentive to propel his side to victory, given how much it would bolster his claim to be the greatest player of all time.

The 35-year-old was imperious against Croatia as Argentina romped to a 3-0 win, with one scored and another set up by the Paris Saint-Germain star. South American eyes are already clamped on the final, with their opponent to be decided in France’s clash with Morocco, who are the first African nation in World Cup history to reach the semis.

With plenty of action to unfold throughout the day, follow Express Sport’s live updates as we keep you up to date below…

Argentines to descend on Qatar

As if Argentina weren’t well-supported enough, DAZN claim that all flights from the country into Doha have been sold out at an eye-watering £6,500 per ticket, with accommodation and tickets to the final set to bump up the final bill considerably.

If France make it through against Morocco as expected, Argentina will have the vast majority of support in the final with thousands more expected to line the streets of Qatar ready to celebrate.

Buenos Aires erupts

Thousands upon thousands of Argentinians flooded into the streets of Buenos Aires, after the 3-0 win over Croatia on Tuesday, to celebrate the team’s safe passage into the World Cup final.

Albiceleste supporters are desperate not only to see their first World Cup win since 1986, but also for Lionel Messi to cap off his sensational career with the ultimate triumph.

There were similar scenes in Doha after the final whistle, where Argentina have enjoyed terrific support at this year’s tournament.

Messi and Argentina taunt England

Lionel Messi and his Argentina team-mates were jubilant in the dressing room after their World Cup final spot was confirmed following victory over Croatia.

Brazil and England were both in the firing line as defender Nicolas Otamendi uploaded a video of players singing the following chant on social media…

“Brazilian what happened, wrinkled the five-time champion. Messi left for Rio and stayed with the cup. We are the Argentine band and we will always encourage. Because we have the dream of becoming world champion. I’m like that, I’m Argentine, f****** English from Malvinas I don’t forget. I am like that, I come to encourage you, I follow Argentina everywhere.”
