World Cup final referee left Jurgen Klopp furious in Champions League clash
Polish referee Szymon Marciniak will take charge of the World Cup final this weekend and he once left Jurgen Klopp fuming.
As France prepare to take on Argentina for the biggest prize of them all, Marciniak will make history as the first Polish referee to officiate a World Cup final. He will be assisted by fellow Poles Pawel Sokolnicki and Tomasz Listkiewicz, while the likes of Premier League refs Anthony Taylor and Michael Oliver miss out.
However, one man might not be that impressed with the decision made by FIFA referee chairman Pierluigi Collina. Liverpool boss Klopp was fuming with Marciniak back in 2020 when he was in charge of a Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid.

The Reds lost 1-0 at the Wanda Metropolitano in the first leg of their European tie with Saul Niguez netting the only goal of the game. But it was the referee that left the German manager jumping up and down on the touchline in fury.
Atletico, who are coached by dark arts master Diego Simeone, seemed to get the rub of the green with refereeing decisions while Klopp was even showed a yellow card for his protests.
Klopp said after the match: “You need a really strong ref. So many things happened. They had three players on the ground for a little breath.
"Sadio Mane was targeted, that was clear. He played a good first half but all they wanted to do was get him a yellow card. That is why I took him off. But I deserved my yellow card.”
Andy Robertson was also less than pleased with the officials on the day, saying: “We gave them the best possible start, then they could start falling over. They celebrated like they had won the tie.
“The throw-in before the corner should have gone to us so the officials made a mistake. They were falling over easy but we got on with it and we are better than that."
Marciniak has already reffed both teams at the World Cup final this winter after taking charge of France's 2-1 win over Denmark in the group stage and Argentina's 2-1 victory over Australia in the round of 16.
