World Cup chiefs planning ‘sober tents’ for fans who get boozed up in Qatar
Qatar World Cup chief Nasser Al Khater has revealed there will be special zones where drunk football supporters will be taken to sober up.
The country will relax some of their strict alcohol laws which will mean that booze can be sold from hotel bars to fan zones and areas outside of stadiums. These will come into effect during the duration of the World Cup from November 20 to December 18.
But the country, which is not used to having to deal with drunk and disorderly people, will bring in special 'sober tents' in a bid to combat a potential rise in public drunkenness. The tents will be used as an alternative to arrests and jail time.

The chief executive of the Qatar World Cup supreme committee Al Khater said: "There are plans in place for people to sober up if they've been drinking excessively.
"It's a place to make sure that they keep themselves safe, they're not harmful to anybody else."

Fans that have drunk too much will be taken to the so-called 'sober tents' where they will remain until they are told they clear-headed enough to be in public. They will also receive a warning as locals laws stipulate that being drunk in public is a crime.
As well as being drunk, homosexuality has also been outlawed in Qatar but Al Khater has insisted that gay fans will not be discriminated or persecuted.
"All we ask is for people to be respectful of the culture," he added. "At the end of the day, as long as you don't do anything that harms other people, if you're not destroying public property, as long as you're behaving in a way that's not harmful, then everybody's welcome and you have nothing to worry about."
