Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui branded ‘brutal’ for assessment of Chelsea

Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui was branded 'brutal' for his assessment of Chelsea.

Lopetegui led his side to a 1-0 win in the Premier League against the Blues last week, handing Frank Lampard his first loss since taking charge of the West Londoners. And ahead of their clash with Brentford, Lopetegui declared he's expecting the Bees to hand his side a much harder challenge than Chelsea presented.

The Spanish strategist went onto to detail how special Thomas Frank's side are, and revealed why they'd give his team a run for their money at the Molineux stadium. He explained in the programme: "It's going to be a very different match to the one we experienced against ChelseaFC. For me, it's going to be a lot more difficult.

"Brentford are a very special team and a very strong team in all phases of play."

And his ruthless summary led one fan on Twitter to comment: "Brutal," with a second user adding: "sighs."

A third amused party scoffed: "lol banter by Wolves." And a fourth fan roped Todd Boehly into the chat and told the Blues owner: "I hope you read this."

However, a fifth supporter concurred with Lopetegui's logic and groaned: "It’s not that he said it it’s that he’s right what is making me sick."

But Lopetegui's prediction was way off the mark as Wolves brushed Brentford aside with a 2-0 victory on home soil.

Although Chelsea did give his argument some legs as they fell to their third consecutive loss against Brighton on Saturday afternoon, which was preceded by their defeat to Real Madrid in the week. Chelsea fans' patience has reached breaking point and they booed the club's payers following today's loss.

Chelsea's flop season was marked by an embarrassing stat achieved by Mykhailo Mudryk against Brighton. The £62m star set up Conor Gallagher's early goal, bringing his assist tally to two, a feat no other Blues star has been able to top in this campaign.
