Wilshere admits he would snub Man City for Arsenal return after Arteta comments
Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere said he would snub Manchester City and play for the Gunners if he had to choose between Pep Guardiola’s side and the north Londoners.
The former England international is currently training with Mikel Arteta’s side, as his search for a new club continues.
Wilshere has been a free agent since being released by Bournemouth at the start of the season.
Injuries have plagued the 29-year-old ever since he burst onto the scene with some astonishing performances under Arsene Wenger during his teenage years.
And the Gunners still course through his veins, as the former West Ham United midfielder said he would rather play for Arsenal than current table-toppers City.
I wouldn’t,” Wilshere said to TalkSPORT when asked by Darren Bent if he would join Manchester City over Arsenal.
“If both Pep and Mikel Arteta rang me tomorrow, if they both offered me three-year contracts then I’m going to Arsenal.”
Wilshere made 187 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners, scoring 14 goals and contributing 30 assists for the north Londoners.

He played a key role in Arsenal’s back-to-back FA Cup triumphs in the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
While an emotional return to the Emirates Stadium is still very unlikely, Arteta has praised Wilshere’s performances in training, citing he is a great player to have around the squad.
“First of all it’s great to have him around because he adds this special feeling to the club,” Arteta said before Arsenal’s vital 2-0 home victory against West Ham.
“His talent is unquestionable, I think you’ve heard some players say he’s the best in training. “It’s up to him the next step in his career and we’re here to support that.”
Wilshere burst through the academy teams at Arsenal and established himself as a prominent first team star.
Unfortunately, any momentum the 34-time capped England star managed to generate during his years at the Gunners, was constantly sapped by injuries.
However, Arteta still believes his former team mate could still perform to the standards required in the Premier League.
“100 per cent and if he has doubts I can tell him that,” Arteta said when asked if Wilshere could still play in the Premier League.
