Wigan had one goal bigger than the other against Cardiff and now face FA probe
Wigan will face a probe from the FA after the Latics' clash with Cardiff was played with two different-sized goalposts.
Bluebirds caretaker boss Mark Hudson revealed two of his coaching staff spotted one crossbar was two inches taller than the other. According to FA rules, crossbars must be no higher than eight feet tall – but one of the crossbars at the DW exceeded that limit.
Hudson informed the referee James Bell, but he responded to Hudson saying it would take “two hours” to investigate the problem, so the match took place with different-sized goals. But FA rules state that “the match must be abandoned" if a crossbar is displaced.

Hudson said: "Two of my coaching staff spotted the problem, which we tried to flag straight away. We were told by the ref that it would take two hours to investigate, but we just wanted to continue."
However, Cardiff were the side to benefit from the mishap, with the Bluebirds' third goal hitting the underside of the ball and firing home.
Wigan boss Leam Richardson fumed: “It just summed our day up – if he’d had the free kick at the other end, it would have bounced off the crossbar and not into the goal.”

Cardiff emerged as 3-1 winners – and the Bluebirds moved up into the top half of the table as they eye a return to England's top flight for the first time since 2019.
Wigan, on the other hand, remains towards the foot of the table, but they possess a game in hand over their rivals.
