The centre-bac was on the bench for United’s Premier League opener against Wolves on Monday night, but didn’t get on the pitch, despite an early injury for Lisandro Martinez.
He was not expected to be in the starting XI this weekend, but he is not even on the bench, with reports emerging from Old Trafford that he has a minor injury which has kept him out of action.
Martinez has returned to fitness and partners Raphael Varane in the middle of defence as Erik ten Hag names an unchanged starting XI from the game at Wolves as they go to Spurs.
Maguire’s Manchester United career may be coming to an end, with the club keen to sell the defender before the end of the transfer window.
The 30-year-old has fallen a long way down the pecking order at Old Trafford, not only behind Martinez and Varane, but also Victor Lindelof and even left-back Luke Shaw preferred to him in the middle of defence.
West Ham had a £30m offer for Maguire accepted but the deal collapsed, with the England man reportedly not keen to take a significant cut in wages without a pay-off to make it worth his while.
It appears that if the former Leicester man chooses to stay at Old Trafford he will not have much playing time to look forward to at all.
