After another eventful top-flight campaign, the curtain came down on an unforgettable Premier League season on Sunday afternoon.
From the likes of Erling Haaland’s goalscoring heroics to the relegation battle that encompassed a multitude of teams, you could barely take your eyes away from the action.
Supporters were kept entertained throughout the season as Arsenal mounted their push for a Premier League title, before eventually getting pipped by Man City.
On an individual level, there were a number of standout players who carved their name into Premier League history, such as Miguel Almiron and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
Throughout every gameweek, Mail Sport provided a Power Rankings list that judged the best 10 players in the Premier League and, here, we’ve tallied it up to find out the outright winner.

9. Jadon Sancho
8. Bryan Mbuemo
7. Bukayo Saka
6. Kamaldeen Sulemana
5. Abdoulaye Doucoure
4. Bruno Fernandes
3. Harry Kane
2. Taiwo Awoniyi
1. Granit Xhaka
10. Bruno Fernandes (48 points)
It’s been an eventful campaign for the Manchester United playmaker. Throughout the good and the bad in 2022-23, Bruno Fernandes was there.
Many had suggested that the summer arrival of Christian Eriksen would see Fernandes shirk some playmaking responsibilities, but that wasn’t the case.
With eight goals and eight assists in the Premier League, the Portugal international had the second-most goal involvements (behind Rashford) within the squad.
However, for all his impressive displays, there did come some moments of critique for the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder.
After United’s 7-0 defeat to rivals Liverpool, Fernandes – who was captain on the day – was singled out for his body language and attitude at Anfield.
Bruno Fernandes enjoyed a stellar campaign in midfield for Manchester United
9. Kevin De Bruyne (49 points)
It’s surprising to see the Belgian international sitting so far down our Power Rankings list, given how impressive he has been for Manchester City this season.
De Bruyne recorded a staggering 16 assists in the top-flight this season – the most in the league – whilst also notching seven goals in the process.
His performances in the heart of City’s team proved vital in their eventual claiming of the Premier League title, particularly for his display in their 4-1 win over Arsenal.
The Belgian stormed up the pitch and applied a neatly-struck, but tremendously powerful, strike into the bottom corner to kick-start the win at the Etihad.
Belgian international Kevin De Bruyne recorded 16 assists – the most in the Premier League
8. Miguel Almiron (55 points)
It feels as though, in recent months, we’ve heard Almiron’s name crop up less and less when discussing the most in-form players in the Premier League.
There was a time, from September to March, where you couldn’t escape the Paraguayan and his plethora of impressive Newcastle goals.
He managed to notch 11 goals in the Premier League – which all came prior to his thigh injury sustained in mid-March – and set a personal best in the process.
There was speculation that Almiron’s impressive form stemmed from an infamous video of Jack Grealish mocking him at City’s title celebrations last season.
Perhaps, given how his form dropped off in the final months, he’ll be hoping that the former Aston Villa forward namedrops him again in the coming weeks.
Paraguayan forward Miguel Almiron was one of the standout performers in the season
7. Aleksandar Mitrovic (66 points)
After notching a record-breaking 43 goals in the Championship last season, many questioned whether Mitrovic would be able to carry that through in the top-flight.
Well, the answer was yes. He proved that on the first day of the season after bagging a brace in their 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
From there, the Serbian striker didn’t look bag and went on 14 goals – with one assist as well – for Marco Silva’s high-flying side.
It would’ve been a perfect season for Mitrovic but his campaign was marred by the eight-match ban that he received last month.
The Fulham striker was punished by the FA for shoving referee Chris Kavanagh during Fulham’s FA Cup meltdown at Manchester United.
Aleksandar Mitrovic’s season was marred by events in their FA Cup clash with Man United
6. Marcus Rashford (82 points)
What a season it’s been for Manchester United star Rashford, who has looked like a man reborn since the arrival of Erik ten Hag last summer.
The 25-year-old has taken centre-stage at Old Trafford since the dramatic exit of Cristiano Ronaldo and hasn’t looked back since.
He managed to match his best ever goalscoring tally in the Premier League, with an impressive 17 goals to his name for the campaign.
His performances certainly didn’t go unnoticed and, at their end of season awards, he collected the Players’ Player of the Year and Player of the Year accolades.
And, within Mail Sport’s goal of the year awards, Rashford’s strike in their 3-2 defeat against Arsenal was put forward as a contender.
Man United winger Marcus Rashford scored 17 Premier League goals throughout the year
5. Gabriel Martinelli (88 points)
Perhaps his place at fifth is somewhat harsh, given just how impressive Martinelli was for Arsenal throughout the 2022-23 campaign.
With 15 goals and five assists in the Premier League, the Brazilian winger proved to be an essential asset for Mikel Arteta in their push for a league title.
His impressive tally was rather unexpected, given the fact he’d only managed to score 11 Premier League goals throughout the three seasons prior.
With all this said, there’ll be hopes that his ankle injury sustained in their 3-0 defeat to Brighton will not have an impact on his involvement next season.
Brazilian winger Gabriel Martinelli exceeded expectations with his performances for Arsenal
4. Martin Odegaard (101 points)
Despite his sensational displays for the Gunners this year, Odegaard is desperately unlucky not to make it onto our Power Rankings podium.
The Norwegian international enjoyed a sensational year in midfield for Arsenal and became a catalyst in their push for the Premier League title.
With 15 goals, Odegaard recorded one of the highest-scoring Premier League seasons for a midfielder and managed to chip in with seven assists as well.
It was the 24-year-old’s first full campaign as Arsenal captain and, if this season is anything to go off, you can expect him to lead the Gunners to success very soon.
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard scored 15 goals from midfield for the Gunners this term
3. Bukayo Saka (157 points)
The best of the (Arsenal) bunch.
Though he may have been outscored by his two team-mates, Saka takes the crown for most impressive player at Arsenal.
With 14 goals and 11 assists in the league, the 21-year-old had the fourth-most goal contributions in the entire league – bested only by Haaland, Kane and Salah.
Ask any fan who has been to the Emirates this season and they’ll tell you all about Saka’s impressive performances.
From silky dribbles to stunning finishes, he showed it all.
Winger Bukayo Saka had an impressive 25 goal involvements from his 38 appearances
2. Harry Kane (168 points)
If it weren’t for a certain Norwegian goal machine, Kane’s 2022-23 campaign would be referred to as one of the best in recent years.
Despite all of Spurs’ struggles this season, the England captain managed to level his best ever tally in a Premier League campaign after notching 30 goals this year.
In the process, Kane became Tottenham’s all-time top goalscorer after he netted his 267th club goal in their 1-0 win over Manchester City.
Whether he stays at the club beyond the summer remains to be seen, as rumours over a potential summer exit begin to circulate.
Harry Kane became Tottenham’s all-time top goalscorer midway through the 2022-23 season
1. Erling Haaland (224 points)
Who else but Erling Haaland?
The Norwegian striker has set the league alight since his arrival last summer and has gone on to smash nearly every record possible.
His 36 goal tally in the Premier League saw him break the previous record for most goals in a top-flight campaign, as if it was ever in doubt.
Among those goals, the former Borussia Dortmund striker managed to score four hat-tricks during clashes against Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Man United and Wolves.
His name consistently cropped up throughout the season, as he scored goal after goal for Pep Guardiola’s Treble-chasing side.
In all competitions, he managed 52 goals in 51 games, with their FA Cup final still to come. Yep, that’s the actual number. Seriously.
