Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has opened up on Raphael Varane after Sunday’s win over Wolves. The Red Devils went into the match on a high following the blockbuster return to Cristiano Ronaldo. And they won 1-0 at Molineux courtesy of Mason Greenwood’s late strike.
Manchester United weren’t at their best against Wolves.
The Red Devils were under the cosh throughout the majority of the game, having David De Gea to thank for keeping the hosts at bay.
But United did what all good sides do – win when they’re not playing very well.
Just days after the emotional return of Ronaldo, Greenwood struck late to send the away supporters wild and give his side all three points.
And while United struggled to really get going at Molineux, it was certainly a day that contained positives for Solskjaer and his team.
Firstly, another goal for Greenwood.

The England international has now found the net three times in as many matches, enhancing his reputation as one of European football’s hottest prospects in the process.
De Gea looks back to his best, too, with the Spain international making a tremendous double save while the scores were level.
And another highlight was Varane, too.
The former Real Madrid star was given his first start by Solskjaer, having previously been an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw with Southampton.
And he didn’t put a foot wrong, with the France international oozing class throughout the contest.
Speaking after the game, Solskjaer hinted that Varane was a rousing presence both before the match and at half-time, saying he was ‘good’ on both occasions.

“Top, top performance,” Solskjaer said of Varane.
“This was welcome to the Premier League: tempo, hustle and bustle, tackling, he had to defend counter-attacks.
“He’s good in the air, he’s so composed on the ball, he’s so experienced and nothing fazes him.
“He was good in the dressing room before the game and at half-time, I’m delighted with his performance.
“I thought he showed his class.”
It was a historic day for United, as they set a new Premier League record for the most matches unbeaten away from home.
They’re yet to lose since their 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on January 19, 2020.
And Solskjaer said: “Twenty-eight games unbeaten is special.
“We know it’s partly due to no crowd in the stadiums for a while but we want to keep that run going, long may it continue.”
Wolves manager Bruno Lage, meanwhile, felt his side were unlucky not to pick up a point.
It’s now three defeats on the row for the Portuguese, who replaced compatriot Nuno Espirito Santo earlier in the summer.
And Lage said: “One more time a lot of chances, I think we have the best ones and then we suffer one goal and we lose, so it’s very hard.
“After these three games, the chances we created, we didn’t score one goal and we don’t have any points after these three good performances.
“I am disappointed with the result but confident in the way we are playing and for sure we will win.
“Sometimes you create a lot of chances and don’t score, other days you create half a chance and score and win the game.
“But the main point is to continue to work the way we are working, to continue to play the way we are playing.
“The most important here is what we did one more time 90 minutes against a strong opponent.”
