What channel is USA vs. Canada? Time, TV schedule, streaming for SheBelieves Cup game
The SheBelieves Cup’s first day of competition on Thursday closes out with the Battle of North America. After Brazil and Argentina hit the pitch at 4 p.m. ET, it’ll be a meeting of CONCACAF rivals, when the United States and Canada, face off in Orlando, Florida.
It’s been 345 days since Canada took the field due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Canadians’ last match was back on March 10, when the squad battled back and drew 2-2 with Brazil. COVID-19 is continuing to impact the team as a number of players were not released by their French clubs due to mandated quarantines when they return. Among the players were Kadeisha Buchanan (Olympique) and Jordyn Huitema and Ashley Lawrence (both PSG). Canada will also be without superstar and legend Christine Sinclair due to injury.
As for the Americans, the defending champs enter the tournament with a 34-game unbeaten streak and recently played on Jan. 22 against Colombia (6-0 win). The Americans will also be missing a few recognizable names: Tobin Heath and Samantha Mewis are out with injuries. They will have two players, Alex Morgan and Christen Press, returning to the lineup after missing January training.
The USWNT (No. 1 in the world) and Canada (tied for eighth) meet for the 61st time since 1986 with the Americans holding a commanding 50-3-7. While the record is lopsided, in the last 14 meetings (since 2011) there have been three draws and four one-goal wins for the U.S.
Now in its sixth year, this year’s four-team tournament will run from Feb. 18-24 at Exploria Stadium, the home of the NWSL’s Orlando Pride. Canada is making its SheBelieves Cup debut.
