Liverpool v Man City: Premier League preview
Liverpool and Manchester City are gearing up for their 48th meeting of the Premier League era. The Reds won 3-1 in this fixture last term, while the sides played out a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season. The champions head into this one looking to bounce back from the home defeat against Brighton in midweek, while City aim to extend their winning run in the league to 10 games.
What has been said?
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: “We had a home game here when I don’t think (Kyle) Walker passed the halfway line, that was reasonably surprising, but I think they could win it in the last seconds with a (Riyad) Mahrez penalty.
“They are different moments before games against City than before all the other games.
“It depends on your own situation, who is available, who is in good shape, what do you do, all these kind of things.

“I think last time when we played at City it was a nice idea (Klopp fielded Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota in the same team), worked really well for around 25 minutes or so, and in the end it became an open game again. Which was completely fine.
“This is not the place we talk about what we do against City but we will try and think to do the right things, you can imagine.”
Man City manager Pep Guardiola: “They are always an incredible top team, they remain a top squad.
“They know the process, the skills, the methodology, the routines they do offensively and defensively.
“They are aggressive and (on Sunday) they will be more aggressive than ever. I am sure they will have rested really well after the game against Brighton and they will be ready.
“It is always difficult, Liverpool. It is a top club, top history, top players, top manager, backroom staff.”
