Arsenal staff behind the scenes “would welcome a change of ownership”, according to reports. Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek is leading a consortium of three legendary former Arsenal players in an attempt to buy the north London club.
Arsenal fans have been increasingly vocal against owner Stan Kroenke since he took complete control in 2018.
Thousands of supporters protested against the American’s ownership outside the Emirates last Friday.
Arsenal fan Ek, worth a reported £3.4billion, tweeted soon after the protest of his wish to buy the Gunners.
The effort took another substantial step forward on Monday when it emerged Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp and Patrick Vieira were part of Ek’s consortium.

Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol claims the presence of the three legends puts pressure on Kroenke to listen to Ek’s takeover bid.
And Solhekol claims many people at the club would welcome a change at the top.
He said: “Because it’s being played out in public and it has the backing of legends like Henry, like Vieira, like Bergkamp, I think it puts a bit of pressure on Stan Kroenke to at least listen to what these people have to say.
“My information is that behind the scenes, a lot of people at Arsenal would welcome a change of ownership.

“And why wouldn’t they if it would involve Henry, Bergkamp and Vieira coming back to the club?”
But Solhekol says Kroenke currently has no intention to sell Arsenal and wants to build more of a relationship with the supporters.
“I think as far as Stan Kroenke is concerned, he has no intention of selling Arsenal,” he added.
“In fact, he has every intention of engaging with Arsenal fans to take the club forward.
“But obviously there is a lot of unhappiness at Arsenal at the moment.
“Fans very, very unhappy about the way the club is being run.”
Meanwhile, financial journalist Johan Wendel believes Ek will not have gone this far with his efforts to buy Arsenal if he could not afford to do so.
“I don’t think Daniel Ek would make a tweet like that, a comment like that, if he hadn’t thought of the financial considerations,” Wendel told Sky Sports News.
“I think he can afford it and the bulk of that wealth is Spotify shares.
“He owns Spotify shares worth almost £3.2b, so that’s the bulk of those shares.
“He might be able to use those for leverage for a bank, stuff like that.
“But I think he could afford it, but it all depends on the price and if the Kroenkes are [prepared] to sell.”
