- Scamacca made just 27 appearances for West Ham after joining for £30.5million
- The Hammers are yet to sign a player as frustration around the club grows
- They are closing in on a £25million deal for Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez
West Ham forward Gianluca Scamacca is edging closer to a move to Atalanta after the two sides agreed on a fee for a deal.
The forward joined the Hammers last summer in a move worth £30.5million, but he was limited to just 27 appearances in all competitions last season.
He found goals hard to come by, too, netting just eight times as he struggles for consistency in his first – and what will now be only – year with the club.
A deal worth £27.6million – a guaranteed £22.5million and £5.1million in add-ons – has been agreed with West Ham and Atalanta with personal terms not expected to be an issue and a deal to be completed soon.
Scamaccca will be the third West Ham player to leave the club this summer, with Declan Rice moving to Arsenal in a £105million deal and Manuel Lanzini moving to Rival Plate for free.

Manager David Moyes has been left frustrated at the club’s lack of incomings in the transfer market
The lack of incomings has frustrated those at the club, with David Moyes’ job under threat following several failed pursuits.
The Hammers reportedly advertised for seven squad positions on an online transfer website, with zero players yet to be recruited despite offer for the likes of Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay.
They have however made a £25million bid for Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez after agreeing a five-year deal with the Mexican, and remain hopeful of a deal being done.

Fans have also ripped into Moyes after the club lost 4-0 to Bayer Leverkusen in their final pre-season friendly, with under a week to go until they kick off their Premier League campaign against Bournemouth.
Though West Ham have suffered outgoings, Michail Antonio and Danny Ings remain at the club as forward options with youngster Divin Mubama also impressing during pre-season.
The Hammers’ results over the summer have varied, also losing to Rennes and drawing against non-league Dagenham and Redbridge.
They have, however, enjoyed wins over Tottenham, Boreham Wood and Perth Glory, and are optimistic going into the new campaign having won their first major trophy since 1980 at the back end of last season.
