West Ham still chasing Lingard – but Newcastle willing to pay Man Utd £3m now

Newcastle and West Ham are on a collision course over Manchester United outcast Jesse Lingard.

The experienced midfielder is one of several players weighing up a departure from Old Trafford this month.

Lingard has barely featured under interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

However, he flourished at West Ham on a six-month loan last term and bagged nine goals in 16 matches.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe believes the United ace could have a similar impact at St James' Park.

And with Lingard out of contract in the summer, the Toon are willing to hand over in excess of £3million to sign him now.

But with David Moyes still a huge admirer, a return to east London remains firmly on the table.

And given Newcastle's deep pockets under their new ownership, West Ham have no intention of getting drawn into a protracted bidding war.

Where do you expect Jesse Lingard to be playing his football come February? And what would you do if you were him? Let us know in the comments section.

The Hammers can count themselves as direct rivals to the Red Devils in the Premier League right now too, which could work against them.

Not only are West Ham sat fourth in the table, they travel to Old Trafford next Saturday for a crunch clash.
