The 26-year-old had been linked with a move to Aston Villa as manager Steven Gerrard seeks a replacement for the injured Diego Carlos, however, it now looks as though he’ll be moving to the London Stadium.

The defender will become West Ham’s ninth summer signing having recruited Alphonse Areola, Flynn Downes, Thilo Kehrer, Maxwell Cornet, Emerson Palmieri, Nayef Aguerd, Gianluca Scamacca and record signing Lucas Paqueta.
