West Ham respond to opening Arsenal bid for Declan Rice as Man City plot hijack
Arsenal have made their move by submitted an opening bid for Declan Rice that has been rejected by West Ham while Manchester City are pondering an approach of their own, according to reports. The Gunners have identified the West Ham captain as their top summer transfer target and now they are looking to beat rivals to the punch after sending West Ham their opening proposal.
Yet it appears the saga could yet be set to take another twist after Bayern Munich withdrew their interest earlier this week.
That’s because according to The Athletic, champions Manchester City are weighing up a move for the 24-year-old themselves.
David Ornstein is reporting that Arsenal accelerated talks with the Hammers on Wednesday when Gunners executive Tim Lewis and West Ham counterpart Karren Brady met at the Premier League AGM in Hampshire.
Arsenal sporting director Edu is also driving the club’s interest and is actively involved in the process.
