West Ham have turned down Manchester City's bid for Declan Rice after being left 'unimpressed' by the offer.

The Athletic report that the Hammers have formally rejected the bid from the Premier League champions which was worth an initial £80million plus £10m in add-ons.

The offer is seen to be below their valuation of the 24-year-old, with Arsenal already having multiple bids rejected as the first and second placed sides in the league from last season go head-to-head.

The Gunners had already offered a club record proposal of a £75m fee and £15m in add-ons, with Mikel Arteta's men set to react to City's interest with another bid of their own.

City were thought to be leading the chase in their bid to replace skipper Ilkay Gundogan following his free transfer to Barcelona – but West Ham's stance will test the resolve of interested parties.

The Europa Conference League winners are reportedly using the potential fee of £115m Real Madrid paid for Jude Bellingham as a benchmark as they look to get the most money possible for their skipper.

Rice could yet join Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale, William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli in a talented young Arsenal side, but City will offer the best bet of silverware.

Guardiola's side have already sealed a deal worth £30m with Chelsea for Mateo Kovacic, but are looking to strengthen further after winning a historic Treble.

Before going on international duty with England, Rice had said of his future: "There’s interest from other clubs, that’s out there, but ultimately I’ve still got two more years at West Ham.

"I love this club, I love playing for this club. There hasn’t been nothing yet, so my focus is on playing for West Ham, enjoying tonight and seeing what happens."
