West Ham ‘lucky’ they didn’t score vs Sevilla as dangerous fate awaited fans
West Ham supporters that travelled to Spain for their Europa League clash against Sevilla have been told that they were lucky not to see their team put the ball in the back of the net.
Munir El Haddadi scored the only goal of the round of 16 first-leg encounter – with the Hammers having nine shots in total without scoring.
And although there was some disappointment despite the game being in the balance ahead of the second leg, the danger of the stadium's layout shows that not scoring might've been a blessing.
Made clear in a photo shared by Footy Limbs on Twitter, the seats in Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium offer no protection should a fan fall forwards.
As with many Premier League sides, especially on an away day in Europe, supporters tend to leap around in ecstasy and not have much care in relation to their own safety.
The post is captioned: "Thank God West Ham didn’t score a last-minute equaliser. This would’ve been messy."
With a fan adding: "A man came tumbling down about 10 rows before the game had started because he misstepped."
And a second writing: "Jesus Christ. How is that even legal?"

In unsavoury scenes the day before the fixture, West Ham supporters clashed with Eintracht Frankfurt ultras on the streets of the Andalusian capital.
Frankfurt supporters had been in town to watch their side against Real Betis, and were delighted to see them take a 2-1 victory back to Germany.
However, worrying footage emerged late on Wednesday night which showed the two fanbases clashing with bar seats and tables thrown in the melee.
Fast forward to Thursday evening, David Moyes parsed Sevilla and promised that their second leg next week will be just as tight.
He said: "Sevilla have got a really good style, it’s why they’re second in La Liga, it’s why they are ahead of so many good clubs, so you have to look at them and say you’re up against a big opposition.
"But I thought we ran them really close tonight and I’m sure we’ll run them close when we play them next week as well."
