West Ham United are set to reignite their interest in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana just one year after he rejected a move to London to sign for the Toffees, according to reports.

It is believed that David Moyes wants to sign Onana to replace the outgoing Declan Rice, who has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City or Arsenal this summer.

According to The Sun, the Hammers are keen on Onana and Everton may be willing to sell the midfielder for between £40-50million this summer.

Moyes was keen to bring Onana to London last summer when he left Lille, but the midfielder chose a move to Everton over the Irons.

West Ham reportedly have the funds to pay the valuation and a big contract for the Belgian but are yet to convince him over the move.

The report continues to state that Sean Dyche’s side are already eyeing potential replacements for Onana as Blackburn’s Adam Wharton is a target.

Newcastle have already made a move for the 19-year-old, the Sun states, but Everton could offer him a better chance of regular football if they sell Onana.

Several other clubs have been linked with moves for Onana after he had a bright first season at Goodison Park.

Chelsea and Arsenal were believed to be interested in bringing the 21-year-old in but have both set their sights on alternative targets for now.

Moises Caicedo is believed to be Chelsea’s priority, while Rice is Arsenal’s this summer.

It remains to be seen as to whether West Ham will follow up their interest with a formal bid, but Moyes has set his sights on his Rice replacement.
