West Ham are interested in a blockbuster transfer for Dominic Calvert-Lewin after being alerted that Everton might have made their star striker ‘available’, according to reports. The Toffees are apparently listening to offers for key assets as they need to recoup cash after years of over-spending.
Both clubs have experienced vastly contrasting Premier League seasons this term.
West Ham dropped down to fifth on Saturday after their 1-0 defeat by Manchester United lifted the Red Devils ahead on goal difference.
Meanwhile, Everton’s reverse at home to Aston Villa means they have won just one of their last 14 league fixtures.
It is a run that prompted Rafael Benitez’s sacking last weekend and will hand their next manager a tough task.
Given the differences between the two teams, England striker Calvert-Lewin could be tempted by a transfer to east London.

According to the Sun, West Ham are interested in signing Calvert-Lewin. However, Everton’s astronomical £60million valuation is putting the Hammers off completing a deal.
Boss David Moyes wants to raid his former club for the forward, who has had a frustrating campaign so far, but will not pay such a huge fee. Everton need to recoup funds after splashing out huge amounts in recent years without success – and apparently considered selling Jordan Pickford before a recent U-turn.
The price tag would smash West Ham’s record transfer fee, which is currently the £45m spent on flop Sebastien Haller in 2019. The Ivory Coast international departed two years later for only half that fee.
The report continues that West Ham would likely make a structured offer to Everton that includes bonus, such as qualifying for European competition.
A quadricep injury kept Calvert-Lewin out for the best part of three months before Christmas.
The 24-year-old has been limited to only six league appearances but has still managed to score three goals.
It is not quite the 21 strikes in 39 games across all competitions that he managed last season.
West Ham would benefit from that kind of form. They have relied on Michail Antonio to lead the line in recent seasons, but the 31-year-old has scored just twice in his last 14 league matches.
Moyes has credited the often maligned Hammers board for their support in the transfer market, although has said that suitable targets have been difficult to find in January.

“Yeah. One hundred per cent, the board have been really good, they have supported me greatly and said: ‘go and get what you need if you can, David’,” the former Man Utd boss said on Friday.
“Like everything else, things are expensive in this window at the moment.
“Also, there’s not a great pool [of players] in the positions we are looking for.
“We have found difficult identifying and maybe getting ones who we think can come in and make a difference immediately.”
