West Ham are considering a late move for Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic despite the Serbia international being close to joining Inter Milan.

The 21-year-old is viewed as one of the hottest prospects in European football and is wanted by Inter.

However, personal terms between Samardzic and Inter are still to be finally agreed, with West Ham understood to be keen on entering the race.

Talks with Samardzic and Inter are expected to continue on Friday and the Hammers are waiting for news before deciding whether to formalise their interest. Samardzic would cost in the region of £22million.

West Ham are fighting to keep hold of Lucas Paqueta, who is a target for Manchester City.

And Samardzic could help soften the blow of Paqueta’s departure. Brazil International Paqueta wants to join City this summer which leaves West Ham in a difficult situation.

Despite West Ham’s desire to keep Paqueta, it is understood an offer upwards of £90million could tempt the Premier League club into selling.
