Wayne Rooney pictured for first time since police called over hotel snaps
Wayne Rooney has been spotted in public for the first time since scandalous pictures of him on a night out went viral on social media as he took Derby Country training on Monday.
The 35-year-old hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons over the weekend as images of him alongside scantily dressed women were shared.
But the Manchester United legend did not appear to be too affected by the drama as he put the Derby players through their paces at the cub's training ground.
The Mirror understands the photos of Rooney have been reported to Greater Manchester Police as a possible crime.
One apparently shows England’s all-time top scorer chatting to a mystery girl in a dark nightclub.
In another pic – captioned "no words no papz" – he is gesticulating with his right hand while holding a glass of wine in his left.
Every other picture or video shows Rooney asleep on a wooden chair.
One snap titled "Sleepy wayne" features a blonde woman posing beside him with her tongue out while making the peace sign.
In the background another woman, wearing a skimpy white dress, is lying full length on a bed.
A video clip of another girl apparently breaking wind near him has also been viewed over 175,000 times.
There is no suggestion proud family man Rooney did anything untoward or behaved inappropriately.
A timestamp on the pictures shows "8.30" but it is unclear whether the pictures were taken in the morning, evening or on what date.
It is also not yet known whether Rooney, who has been married to his wife Coleen since 2008, was in a hotel or visiting a private address.
Rooney took over as Derby manager last year and only escaped relegation from the Championship by one place.
His team is currently struggling for form and lost 2-1 to League Two side Salford City on Saturday.
In an interview after the game he said: “All I can do is try to bring some dignity and pride back to this club.
“If I am being honest, it would be easy for a manager in my situation to walk away.
“It’s a challenge for me, I’m a fighter…I will do everything I can to get the club through this.”
