Vlahovic development, Arsenal ‘fascinated’ by Calvert-Lewin, Aubameyang claim

Arsenal fans would have been hoping for so much more from the start of 2022.

The Gunners have struggled for form in recent weeks, with no wins and no goals in their last four matches following the 0-0 draw with Burnley.

Manager Mikel Arteta will be frustrated at how the team have failed to take December's positive momentum into January and it will now be fascinating to see if any moves are made by the club before the transfer window closes.

Daily Star Sport has your latest Arsenal transfer headlines after a frustrating day for the north London outfit.

Vlahovic holding out for City

According to La Repubblica (h/t the Manchester Evening News ), Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic is holding out on a move to Arsenal in the hope that Manchester City make a play for him.

The Gunners have been credited with a strong interest in the forward, who has notched 17 goals in Serie A already this term.

Of all the Premier League clubs, Arsenal have been the most strongly linked with Vlahovic, although City are also thought to be on the lookout for a new striker.

Arsenal may need to add to their attacking options, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of favour and Alexandre Lacazette out of contract come the end of the season.

Calvert-Lewin interest

According to Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenburg (h/t Sport Witness ), Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin is attracting interest from Arsenal and Atletico Madrid.

The England striker is said to be considering the next stage of his career, with the Toffees struggling near the bottom of the Premier League.

Arsenal are reportedly "fascinated" by Calvert-Lewin, while Atletico are said to have "inquired about him" a few weeks ago with a view to making a move in the summer.

The former Sheffield United forward has been injured for the majority of the campaign and has yet to find his best form since making a comeback to the Everton side.

Pepe expects Aubameyang stay

A video has emerged on social media in which Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe has said he expects Aubameyang to stay at the club.

The former skipper has been marginalised in recent weeks after falling out with Arteta and there has been speculation aplenty linking him with a move away.

But Pepe thinks the Gabon forward may stick around this month.

"I don't know," was the response from the Ivory Coast international when asked by a fan if he thought Aubameyang would leave, per the Mirror. "I think he'll stay, but I don't know."
