Vinicius Jr ‘roasts’ Christensen with pace as fans go mad for Real Madrid goal
Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen suffered a “roasting” by Vinicius Jr in the 3-1 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid on Wednesday.
The reigning champions couldn’t cope with the strike partnership of Karim Benzema and Vinicius as they conceded three in the first leg of the tie at Stamford Bridge. The Brazilian trickster seemed in the mood from the get-go as he breezed past Christensen to set up Benzema’s stunning headed goal with a lofted cut-back 21 minutes in.
Vinicius, 21, continued to toy with the Danish centre-back as Real added a second courtesy of another Benzema header just three minutes later. Christensen’s relentless punishment saw Thomas Tuchel take him off at half-time, but the damage had already been dealt.
Commenting on the lead up to Real’s first goal, where Vinicius played a swift one-two and skinned the Dane, one fan tweeted: “Christensen just got roasted by Vinicius there.”
Hundreds more commented on the defender’s “bullying” at the hands of Vinicius before his substitution.

Another wrote: “Christensen should think twice about signing for Barca if this is how he's gonna defend Vinicius. Vini has been cooking him this whole game. Can't live with his pace.”
Despite Kai Havertz making it 2-1 just before the break, Chelsea fared no better without Christensen. A sloppy Edouard Mendy pass gifted Benzema with the easiest goal of the night to complete his hat-trick a minute after half-time.
The Blues put pressure on Los Blancos, who sat deep for the remainder of the game, but were unable to reduce the deficit. Tuchel’s side will now need to score three goals at the Bernabeu next week to reach the semi-finals.
It is unclear whether the German will risk putting Christensen up against his formidable opposing winger when they meet again. But the defender will need to find a way of dealing with the speedster when he joins Barcelona on a free transfer at the end of the season.
