Villa’s owner Wes Edens has huge net worth, owns NBA team and has model daughter

Aston Villa's co-owner isn't short of a few quid.

Wes Edens, who runs the club along with Nassef Sawiris, is the financial muscle behind the Premier League side with an estimated net worth of $1.2billion (£898m).

The clubs have confirmed the appointment of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard on Thursday morning as the West Midlands side hope to avoid the drop.

Gerrard's return to the Premier League has made headlines across the country.

But the appointment may have only been a footnote in the day to Edens.

Edens has a lot on his plate, alongside Villa he owns the reigning NBA champions, the Milwaukee Bucks.

The 60-year-old also owns a luxury boutique hotel and ski resort in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, an area synonymous with the affluent.

Edens joined the exclusive club of billionaires thanks to his Fortress Investment Group, which he co-founded in 1998.

The 60-year-old first became a billionaire in 2007 when Fortress went public.

In 2018, Aston Villa announced that Edens and Sawiris would replace Tony Xia as co-chairmen when the pair bought a 55% controlling stake in the club.

Edens oversaw the appointment of Dean Smith and Villa's subsequent return to the Premier League in 2019.

However, Villa wasn't Edens first venture into the world of professional sport, and in 2014 he co-purchased an NBA side, the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks won the most recent NBA Finals as they overcame the Phoenix Suns 4-2 in the series final.

In their ranks is Giannis Antetokounmpo, the 'Greek Freak', arguably the best player the league currently has to offer.

The Bucks' 2021 triumph was the second in their history and the first under Edens stewardship, with their first triumph coming in 1971.

However, Edens isn't the only successful member of the family, and his daughter, Mallory Edens, is a stunning model.

The 5ft 9in model is represented by Elite Models in New York, and she has amassed over 209,000 followers on Instagram.

Mallory is a huge Bucks supporter, and she is often snapped courtside, once seen chatting with Drake as his beloved Toronto Raptors travelled to Wisconsin.

Her first trip to Villa Park saw Millwall in town, and Jonathan Kodjia's strike separated the two sides on a day Mallory described as 'insane'.

With the Buck's season in the history books, Edens looks set to turn his attention to Aston Villa.

And that will be music to the ears of Villa fans with a new manager coming in and a transfer window on the horizon.
