Vieira morphs into Wenger with "did not see it" comments after Arsenal draw

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira played a managerial move straight out of the Arsene Wenger handbook on Monday night following his side's 2-2 with Arsenal.

The former Gunners midfielder spent nine years under Wenger at Highbury and captained their 2003/04 'Invincibles' team when Arsenal went an entire league campaign unbeaten.

Vieira recently took up the reins as manager of Crystal Palace, after the departure of Roy Hodgson, and was back to face his former club in the Premier League on Monday evening.

A last-minute equaliser from Alexandre Lacazette denied the Eagles from claiming all three points but Vieira remained coy on one incident from the first half.

James McArthur was shown a yellow card for a horrendous tackle on Bukayo Saka with the England youngster substituted at half-time.

The 20-year-old sat out the second period on the bench with an ice pack strapped to the same spot on his calf where the tackle had occurred.

VAR did take a look at the incident but decided to stick with Mike Dean's on-field decision.

After the game, the Palace manager morphed into his old boss saying: "I'm sorry I didn’t get a chance to see it again from where I was."

Wenger was infamous for missing game-changing decisions and incidents whilst on the touchline with Vieira seemingly having learned from the master.

Mikel Arteta, though, was less hesitant to express his thoughts on the horror swipe.

He said: “I saw the action and I cannot believe their player stayed on the pitch.

"It's a clear red card. No intention to play the ball.

"I don't know how with VAR he hasn't been sent off."
