Victoria Beckham shares how David is going to extreme lengths to welcome Messi

David Beckham reveals how he found out about Messi’s Miami move

Victoria Beckham has posted a series of images and videos showing husband David preparing for Lionel Messi’s arrival at Inter Miami. The Argentinian star is due to be arriving in the US imminently and the Beckhams have been busy to ensure he is made to feel welcome.

Messi is joining the MLS franchise following a two year spell at Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain. Both Messi and PSG decided to part ways after the 36-year-old’s contract expired.

The move came after a 21-year spell with Spanish giants Barcelona. During his time in Spain, Messi established himself as one of the greatest footballers to have played the game.

With seven Ballon d’Ors, four Champions League trophies and ten LaLiga titles and the 2022 World Cup with his country among his numerous achievements, Messi has taken on a new challenge in the US. The move follows in the footsteps of players such as Pele, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard who all made the move tot he US towards the end of their careers.

Ahead of Messi’s arrival at Inter Miami, the club’s owner David Beckham has been busy creating a mural for the World Cup winner. The images and videos uploaded via Victoria Beckham’s Instagram account show a huge mural on the side of a Miami building.

Writing over the posts, Victoria said: ‘Only arrived a few days and he got straight to it! Is there nothing he can’t do?!?!’ In another post she added: ‘@davidbeckham feeling quite accomplished as he should!!’

The mural shows two images of Messi in the Inter Miami strip which football fans are eager to see for themselves in the coming days.

Messi is set to make his first appearance for Beckham’s MLS franchise on Friday, July 21, when Miami take on Mexican team Cruz Azul at DRV PNK Stadium for the League’s Cup opener.

However, the date for Messi’s MLS debut has recently been thrown in doubt. Inter Miami’s sporting director Chris Henderson has expressed doubts on his arrival after comments concerning Messi’s paperwork.

“With regard to Leo, the terms are agreed but we are working on the paperwork with Major League Soccer so those are going to take time to finish,” Henderson said. “But we hope that there is a time in mid-late July that he’s ready to go, but that’s just going to be up to how he finishes all the paperwork.”
