Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has held discussions with Sweden head coach Janne Andersson about his role at the Red Devils. Lindelof has been pushed further down the pecking order by the arrival of Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.
Boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made signing a new centre-back a top priority over the summer.
The Norwegian acquired his main target in Varane, who has joined in a bargain £35million switch from Los Blancos.
Lindelof enjoyed a successful start to the season, despite the club signing Varane. His excellent pass to Bruno Fernandes allowed the Portuguese to complete his hat-trick on the opening day against Leeds United.
Varane was catching up with fitness for those first couple of matches and went straight into the team for the 1-0 victory over Wolves.

The France international partnered Harry Maguire in central defence, leaving Lindelof on the substitutes’ bench.
The 27-year-old is now on international duty with Sweden and has opened up on a discussion with national team coach Andersson. Lindelof captained Sweden in their 2-1 win over Spain on Thursday.
“Obviously I talked to the coach [here]. It is only good that at Manchester United we get new players into the club,” Lindelof said.
“It can only be good for the team that we get those good players, but of course we [Andersson] have been talking.

“It was the greatest honour to lead Sweden out there [as captain] against Spain. So, of course, I was very proud of the team and the guys.
“For me to be captain and for the first time for such a match, it was an amazing feeling for me and to top it off with a win was very special.”
Lindelof also revealed that he has been suffering from pain for the last couple of seasons and has conceded that he struggles to play a full campaign.

He is excited about the healthy competition for places in the United squad and has piled pressure on Solskjaer and his team-mates to win the Premier League.
He added: “I have played a lot the last two years and last year I had big problems with my back and played with pain.
“My back feels good now, there will probably be no problems, but I do not think I will play 50, 60 matches.
“Of course, you feel it, it is clear there is a very good atmosphere in the club and everyone is looking forward to getting him into the team. It will be fun and I think he will add a lot.
“I think the squad looks very good. It feels good, we have a good atmosphere in the team and the Premier League is always a tough league.
“But we will do everything we can to win the title. That is the goal.”
