VAR labelled ‘farce’ after taking forever over obvious call in Man Utd vs Forest

VAR has been slammed by fans who fumed after the system took forever to make an obvious call in Manchester United's 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Fans were livid when VAR took ages to confirm whether Forest ace Ryan Yates' goal was offside as the first half drew to a close. Yates thought he had clawed one back for Forest who were trailing 2-0 to the Red Devils.

But his joy was short-lived after his goal was ruled out after a lengthy review from VAR. And fans were displeased with the agonising wait that added three minutes to stoppage time as they felt the decision was a no-brainer.

Boos echoed around Old Trafford from both fans due to the system's delayed response.

Forest fans led the chants by screaming: "F*** VAR", prompting United fans to follow suit. It was evident to both sets of supporters that Yates' header hit Willy Boly's shin when he was offside.

Fans on Twitter also vented their rage at VAR's slow decision-making abilities.

One fan raged: "As a United fan, I should like to state that VAR is a f***ing joke. I'm a big believer in making your own luck in football but Forest fans should be screaming about that decision. Get. Rid."

Another fan offered their insight on VAR and added: "You mean – too lengthy. A complete farce."

And a third fan raged whilst making comparisons to the World Cup: "The Prem seems to have learned zero from the WC. Minutes to rule out an offside which was obvious as soon as you had the reply showing the touch after the header and then 3 mins of injury time (played 2:59 after the ref messed about moving the ball for a free kick for 5 minutes)."

Unfortunately for Forest, it was the last time they'd hit the net in the game. United ran out comfortable winners when Fred rounded off the scoring to give the Red Devils a 3-0 victory, following Marcus Rashford's stroke of genius in the first half.
