Van der Sar ‘not in life-threatening danger’ after Man Utd legend’s brain bleed
Edwin van der Sar is no longer in life-threatening danger after the Manchester United legend suffered a bleed on the brain.
The Dutch goalkeeping icon remains in intensive care but is communicating, his wife has said. Van der Sar was admitted to a hospital in Croatia last Friday. He had been on holiday in the country when he suffered a cerebral haemorrhage.
Annemarie van der Sar said in a statement issued via Dutch club Ajax: “Edwin is still in the intensive care unit, but is stable. He is not in life-threatening danger.
“Every time we get to visit him, he’s communicative. We have to wait patiently to see how his situation will develop.”

Earlier this week, Rob Jansen, Van der Sar's long-time representative, gave fans an update on his client's condition.
“Of course things are not going well. But not good and good,” said Jansen during an appearance on the KieftJansenEgmondGijp podcast, per Voetbal International.
“You have to protect the family in this. He's in good hands. Annemarie is there with her son. There is continuous contact from the Netherlands about how to proceed.”
Ajax – Van der Sar's first professional club – previously shared an update thanking fans for their messages of support on behalf of his wife. Man United and another of his former clubs, Fulham, also showed their support for the Van der Sar family.
