The fastest man on earth enjoyed a memorable visit to the Theatre of Dreams as he attended United’s dramatic 3-1 FA Cup quarter-final victory over Fulham.
Manchester United will now face Brighton for a place in the FA Cup final, having already lifted the EFL Cup earlier in the season.
That was United’s first trophy since 2017, with Ten Hag’s side also aiming to win the Europa League ahead of a quarter-final tie against Sevilla after the international break.
Lifelong Manchester United fan Bolt says he is ‘very happy’ with the team’s progress and told Ten Hag as much when he met the Red Devils boss at Old Trafford.
‘The first thing I said to him was “thank you”,’ said the 100m and 200m record holder. ‘That’s the first thing I said and he was like “thanks for what?” I was like “for bringing the glory days back”.
‘I actually asked him about who we’re going to bring in in the summer and he was like “do you have any ideas?” It was a nice, simple but fun conversation.
‘It feels good to watch Manchester now. The team is together, they’re as one. They’re working together, they’re working hard and you can see the purpose now, you can see the determination in the way they play.
‘I was very happy with his progress and I can tell that he’s going to do a lot more. We have a lot more trophies in our future so I’m excited.
‘It’s just been a wonderful season to watch our players. Everybody’s just improving and getting better.’
Eight-time Olympic champion Bolt believes the Manchester United players ‘want to work hard’ for Ten Hag and make the Dutchman ‘proud’, something that was missing under previous bosses.
‘I think it’s a belief,’ the 36-year-old Jamaican added to PA. ‘When I was coming through, when your coach gives you so much confidence, you kind of believe that anything is possible.
‘You want to work hard, you want to make him proud, you want to do great for him, so I think that’s what he’s getting from the players.
‘He’s come in and the players believe in what he said and trust in what he said, so now they’re just doing the work to prove it.’
