Unfortunate Grealish tweet about Madrid in 2014 resurfaces after City meltdown
An unfortunate tweet about Real Madrid from Jack Grealish has resurfaced after Manchester City bottled their Champions League semi-final.
City had led on the night and by two goals on aggregate as the match entered stoppage time, thanks to Riyad Mahrez's opener in the Spanish capital. However, substitute Rodrygo scored twice in a minute to level the tie on aggregate before Karim Benzema's extra time penalty completed a dramatic turnaround for the hosts.
Grealish had missed a golden opportunity to score for City and kill off the match in the final five minutes but saw his effort cleared off the line.
A tweet from April 2014 has now resurfaced on social media, showing Grealish once posted "Hala Madrid!!!" along with a string of Spanish flag emojis.
Eight years on, that tweet has now come back to haunt the England international, with Real Madrid fans flooding the comments with images of their players celebrating the dramatic victory.
A number of fans also took the chance to rub the defeat in and mock Grealish, including one who wrote: "Hala Madrid indeed you f***ing drip."

Another added: "Now this aged well. Jack looked pretty festive at the end there." Whilst another also tweeted: "This is your 100 million pound man."
With less than five minutes remaining in the match and with City ahead both on the night and on aggregate, Grealish had also squandered a crucial chance to put his side in the final.
The 26-year-old skipped past a string of challenges as City sprung Real Madrid on the counter attack, before he took the ball round Thibaut Courtois and slid it towards goal.
However, he was somehow denied by Ferland Mendy, who recovered to scrape the ball off the line and away from the onrushing Phil Foden.
