Unai Emery is 'keen to sell Emiliano Martinez' after World Cup antics
Emiliano Martinez’s behaviour at the World Cup has Aston Villa boss Unai Emery ‘unimpressed and keen to sell him’, claim shock reports in Spain… with Sevilla’s Yassine Bounou ‘lined up to replace him’
- Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is reportedly keen to sell Emiliano Martinez
- The goalkeeper was criticised for his behaviour after the World Cup final
- Emery said last week that he would address the issues with the Argentine
- But it appears things could escalate with Emery ‘unimpressed’ with the ‘keeper
- Villa are reportedly eyeing a move for Morocco’s goalkeeper Yassine Bounou
Emiliano Martinez’s lewd behaviour following the 2022 World Cup Final has prompted Aston Villa boss, Unai Emery, to ‘consider selling’ the Argentine goalkeeper, according to shocking reports in Spain.
The surprising report from Fichajes, as translated by Football Espana, suggests that Aston Villa boss has supposedly become ‘unimpressed by the temperament’ of his goalkeeper, who after winning the Golden Glove at the tournament, made a rude gesture with the trophy.
France have also launched a complaint to FIFA against the goalkeeper, after the 30-year-old had repeatedly taunted Kylian Mbappe in the wake of the final.

But the startling reports from Fichajes claim that the Villa manager is ‘very keen to sell the goalkeeper as soon as possible,’ despite his World Cup heroics.
His epic last minute save to deny Randal Kolo Muani in the World Cup Final proved decisive in taking the game to penalties.
He stepped up once again for the South American side to block Kingsley Coman’s spot-kick in the resulting shootout, giving Argentina the win.

But his celebrations have been criticised by many, including Fabio Capello who called him ‘stupid’ and Graham Souness, who branded him a ‘clown’.
The Aston Villa boss, meanwhile, has echoed these comments and suggested last week that he would sit down with Martinez to discuss his behaviour at the tournament.
Emery said: ‘I want to speak with him when he will come here next week but I am thinking more about his performance and his win, than his celebration.
‘The celebration is for the supporters, with really big emotions. It’s not really a good moment as a coach to identify why.
‘I prefer to be focused on how he performed and how he is going to win with us afterwards. I am going to speak with him because I want to control him about that as well – his emotions.
But the Villa boss last week said he will look to speak to Martinez about his poor behaviour

‘We have to have values, we have to focus on behaviour when we are together and with the opposition players.’
Martinez has asserted himself as the the No 1 shot-stopper at Villa Park, appearing in all but two of of their Premier League matches this season after he yielded 11 clean sheets in 36 games last season.
While the Spainsh reports are only speculation, Villa Emery could look to replace his World Cup winner, with Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.
After an epic World Cup, the 31-year-old was only just pipped by Martinez to the Golden Glove award and will certainly have attracted the attention of clubs around Europe.
