Ultimate fan TV meltdowns nine years on from Andy Tate’s iconic David Moyes rant

Football fans! The game needs them, their clubs need them – sometimes, we cannot stop listening to them!

It has been nine whole years since iconic Manchester United fan Andy Tate went on an extraordinary rant about David Moyes. The now West Ham United manager was enduring an arduous campaign at the Theatre of Dreams, but his lowest moment came when Manchester City demolished the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

Football fan channels, news companies, or even wannabe YouTubers, are always scattered around, outside of stadiums like a lop-sided defence, hoping to capture the next viral rant. And on the nine year anniversary of Tate’s box-office tirade, Daily Star Sport considers six of the best fan rants we have ever heard.

Andy Tate – biggest fool in Manchester

We have to start off at the man himself. It’s safe to say, the diehard Red Devil did not hold back in his assessment. “Next week, April Fools Day, he's the biggest fool of Manchester and that is you, David Moyes,” he said on the Stretford Paddock. “You have lost the fans tonight.

“You don't deserve the fans, you don't deserve anything from this club. You got the job on a technicality of a legend who recommended you. You are nothing, you are a fool, and you are a waste of time, good night!” Nine years on, people are still talking about it now

Astra Goo-Goo

What other iconic fan rants can you remember? Let us know in the comments-section below

West Ham United fans clamouring for a slice of Europa League football had their hearts broken by Astra GiurGiu one year previously, had the opportunity to not only play in Europe again, they also had a chance for revenge. Listen to this passionate Hammer on West Ham United Fan TV and guess if they were able to win or not.

"Bunch of f***ing arrogant two-bob c***s. They are a f***ing disgrace. We should’ve learnt from last year when they knocked us out." We’re a f***ing embarrassing, mate.” He then went on to add “but we don’t need a striker? Do we David Sullivan do we? ‘Nah we’re happy with the injury crocked Carroll and the Ecuadorian donkey t***, nah we don’t need a striker’.” He then somewhat spectacularly raised his voice and screamed, “we couldn’t even score against Astra f***ing Goo Goo!”

Mark Goldbridge – Brentford 4-0 Manchester United

Mark Goldbridge’s rants may not have quite reached the same legendary status as Andy Tate, but he cannot be too far off. But one of his finest, most helpless outpourings came when Brentford hammered United 4-0 at the start of the season. As Brentford came pouring forward a terrified Goldbridge said, “this could be four”. This was the moment his world came falling down.

“Oh no,” he screamed, “Oh no. You’re having a laugh. It’s 4-0 after 35 minutes, don’t do this. What is going on? It’s a joke. It’s a bloody disgrace! These players are a joke, Luke Shaw what are you doing?” Luckily for United and Goldbridge’s state of mind, things are now looking up for the Red Devils – well, aside from the other week when they got battered 7-0 by their fiercest rivals Liverpool.

Arsenal fan washing machine rant

You may not exactly put this into the ‘rant’ category, but it is certainly in the draw entitled ‘B’ for ‘bonkers. Arsenal had just suffered another defeat in the 2017-18 season and, as was often the case, Granit Xhaka was public enemy No.1. However, one fan who could have been a biker or a pirate, offered to give him some of his own tuition.

“Granit, give me a f***ing call, and I will teach you how to tackle and not bottle it” the fan said to Arsenal Fan TV. “I didn’t bottle it when a f***ing washing machine fell on my f***ing head.” We’re not sure if this is an analogy, a metaphor, or a genuine life event. What we do know is, that it was solid entertainment.

Arsenal fan TV 'I've gone past ranting' rant

When you are on a poor run of form, anger gives way for apathy, frustration is substituted for painful acceptance, and the energy to muster a rant just simply is not there anymore – or so you may think. That was the case when AFTV regular Troopz got on the mic after Liverpool beat Arsenal 3-1 at Anfield.

“Nah it was terrible fam, I’ve gone past ranting,” Troopz said as he was charging up a four minute long, you guessed it, rant. He then went on to rant about the starting lineup; Arsene Wenger; the dropping of Alexis Sanchez; the non-inclusion of Lucas Perez; Arsenal’s defence; the way the team could not stop Sadio Mane; Francis Coquelin; Granit Xhaka; the left-backs; the lack of signings; and the Arsenal board. We think we’ve covered everything – thank goodness it was not a ‘proper rant’.

"Chris Smalling is better than Harry Maguire"

Harry Maguire must be sick and tired of seeing and hearing this fan do the rounds on social media. After Manchester United were held to a shock 1-1 draw at home to Rochdale, one Red Devils fan went on a huge rant about the United captain. At the time, Maguire was still relatively new to life at the club and was struggling to make his mark. It would be fair to say, things began to go downhill after this rant.

“Everyone’s raving about the players [Solskjaer] has bought… trust me, trust me,” the fan said, gearing up to his big gut punch comment. “Chris Smalling’s gone to Roma, what did we get for him? £2million for the year? Chris Smalling’s better than Harry Maguire, I’m telling you that for a fact! “Listen, I hope I can get a copy of this because I want to come back.” There was no need to worry about there not being a copy – in fact, we cannot even get away from this video.
