TV broadcasters miss Costa back at Chelsea and Potter’s Brighton return

TV broadcasters have missed a trick in the coming months with two matches set to go ahead at 3pm.

The last week has seen two momentous occasions in football go ahead – the decision to hire Graham Potter as manager of Chelsea and the return of Diego Costa to the Premier League.

It means the Blues have some juicy clashes to look forward to in October as they host Wolves – who have just snapped up Costa – on the eighth. The Potter will return to the Amex Stadium on the 29th.

Both matches would have definitely been chalked up on a Chelsea fan's calendar as they prepare to welcome back their old snarling striker in Wolves colours.

Then there is the emotional reaction of the Brighton fans to soak up as they see their former manager for the first time – though there is a suggestion there might be a hostile mood.

And neither Sky or BT will have the chance to show the match live with all the selections already made over what games to televise next month. Either clash would have drawn in huge numbers but the opportunity has long gone.

There is even a chance that the match between Chelsea and Wolves could be Costa's full debut as he gets back up to match fitness.

The striker has been out of action since December after his Atletico Mineiro contract was ripped up while Blues fans still adore the hothead forward for his short but impactful stint at Stamford Bridge.
