Tuchel’s ‘negotiation tactics’ over two contract standoffs bemuses Chelsea fans
Chelsea fans have been left baffled by Thomas Tuchel's negotiation tactic after the Blues boss dropped Andreas Christensen due to a contract standoff.
The Premier League leaders believed they had all but agreed on a new five-year deal for the Danish international only for the defender to snub the contract over a dispute concerning the length of the proposed agreement.
The 25-year-old has not featured since Chelsea's 1-1 draw with relegation-threatened Burnley at the start of November.
But now comparisons have been made by supporters who find Christensen's benching odd considering the circumstances surrounding Antonio Rudiger.
Like his centre-back partner, the German's contract also expires at the end of the current campaign with no indication that Chelsea are any closer to agreeing a renewal.
Now fans have taken to Twitter to blast Tuchel for the peculiar situation surrounding both Rudiger and Christensen.
"What an odd negotiation tactic, especially when you have Rudiger starting every game who's in the exact same position," said one fan.
"Doesn't make sense, then why is Rudiger playing. Isn't he at a standoff with the club also," cried another.
"Not good. Could end up very short next summer if he’s unhappy he will just walk same with Rudiger. Needs resolving quickly this has dragged on months now," stated one concerned supporter.

While one fan hailed the club for standing their ground and not letting Christensen change the arrangements of the contract after already verbally agreeing to a new deal.
They tweeted: "Twisting the arm of the club is never a good tactic when it comes to Chelsea…and it's a message to all players not only Christensen. The club is above anyone."
