Tuchel weighs in on Potter sacking and sends message to Nagelsmann
Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has weighed in on Graham Potter’s exit from Stamford Bridge. The German also insists Julian Nagelsmann does not need his advice on whether to take the Blues job.
Potter was sacked by Chelsea on Sunday evening. Saturday’s 2-0 loss at home to Aston Villa proved to be the final straw for owner Todd Boehly.
Potter was in charge of the Blues for less than seven months. He replaced Tuchel in September after the 49-year-old was sacked just days after the summer transfer window shut.
Tuchel has recently returned to management himself. He has replaced Nagelsmann at Bayern Munich after his compatriot was surprisingly fired by the Bundesliga giants last month.
Nagelsmann has emerged as one of the possible contenders to take over at Chelsea. Asked if he would give Nagelsmann advice, Tuchel insisted it was not necessary.

He also claimed the timing of Potter’s sacking was “pretty tough”. Tuchel said: “Julian’s not going to ask me because he doesn’t need my advice.
“I received it [news of Potter’s sacking] yesterday on my cell phone as a push notification. In the end, it was pretty tough timing because it was right after I took over here and now the next Chelsea coach position is vacant…”
Meanwhile, Tuchel says Chelsea changed massively during his time at the club, which made his exit easier. Todd Boehly took over as owner of the west London club last summer and ultimately didn’t view Tuchel as his long-term boss.
He added: “I needed quite a bit of time to distance myself from Chelsea. I really liked to worked there and there were friendships for life I managed to make.

“It was a very intense time, but the club has changed massively so it was easier for me to get a bit of distance between myself and the club, so there weren’t too many emotions involved.”
Former Brighton captain Bruno Saltor has been placed in interim charge at Chelsea. The Spanish coach followed Potter to Chelsea from the Seagulls in September.
He held his first press conference on Monday afternoon and admitted he was sad to see Potter leave. Bruno said: “I just spoke to Graham five minutes ago.
“It has been a difficult 24 hours for all of us, the staff and families and now we have to live with the situation. It’s a sad day for the staff because Graham and Billy [Reid] are two top coaches, top people and I have to be as professional as I can to prepare for the game as best we can.”
