Tuchel ‘requests’ Madrid’s Militao to replace Rudiger and Christensen at Chelsea

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has reportedly set eyes on an ideal summer replacement for Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Christensen and Rudiger are both out of contract at the end of June, and if their situation is not resolved in the coming months, it could force Tuchel to start looking at replacements.

As luck would have it, the German has reportedly started doing just that, with Spanish outlet AS claiming he has already suggested a number of possible alternatives to the club's board.

Among those potential targets is said to be Real Madrid defender Eder Militao.

The report from AS says that Militao is 'one of the requests that Tuchel has made to the leaders of Chelsea for the next summer market.'

Militao has been a regular for Real Madrid this season, featuring 30 times in all competitions, as well as making six appearances for Brazil.

The 24-year-old is reportedly among the lowest earners at the Bernabeu, which could make him an easier target for Chelsea to sign in the summer.

However, unlike Rudiger and Christensen, who are free to leave Stamford Bridge for nothing in June, Militao is under contract until 2025.

Madrid shelled out £45million to sign the defender from Porto in 2019 and are unlikely to allow him to leave for cheap if a bid does materialise.

Chelsea have displayed their spending power to full effect in the last few summer transfer windows, with club bosses sanctioning over £200million worth of investment in the summer of 2020 alone.

That was followed up by the return of Romalu Lukaku from Inter Milan for a club record £97.5million last summer.

AS adds that the Blues intend to 'probe' Madrid with a call at the end of the season to try and work out if a deal could be possible.

If Rudiger and Christensen both fail to sign new deals in west London, Thiago Silva and Trevog Chalobah will be the club's only two recognised senior centre-backs.
