Thomas Tuchel is open to the idea of replacing Chelsea’s shirt sponsorship with a symbol of peace.
The club’s main shirt sponsors Three suspended their £40million deal after Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK because of his ties to Russia president Vladimir Putin and Evraz, a steel company helping to make military tanks for the invasion of Ukraine.
They have asked for all branding to be removed from the kit and around Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea play Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday.

‘We can always wear a message for peace,’ said Tuchel, when asked if such a gesture might be possible. ‘It can never be the wrong message.’
Finding any kit to wear may become a more pressing issue, however, as more sponsors, including kit manufacturers Nike, consider their positions in the wake of the sanctions against Abramovich.
‘Maybe the worry is to find enough shirts to play in with the sanctions,’ said Tuchel. ‘As long as the bus is full of fuel we will arrive and be competitive. This is what everybody can be sure of and this is what we demand of ourselves.
‘When it’s a big storm you dig in, you hold together, you stay strong and go through it. But a message for peace can never be wrong.’

On the pitch, Chelsea have performed well in four games amid varying degrees of turbulence, winning twice in the Premier League, making progress in the FA Cup and losing in the Carabao Cup final on penalties.
‘Always the best way, to carry on winning,’ said Tuchel. ‘For us, it’s maybe in the moment a bit more difficult because of the noise. Some players will feel uncertainty. Some maybe will be a bit frightened. Some will be concerned. It’s normal.
‘Not only the players. We have a lot of people on the staff, in the club who are maybe also worried and scared and uncertain. That’s why it’s very important that we keep the trust and the belief in the training centre, in all of us.

‘We rely on ourselves and in the end allow ourselves to be the guys who take care of the sport. We did not cause the situation. We cannot solve the situation.
‘It can also give us the freedom in the end to still enjoy what we are doing and still follow the responsibility to give everything, and what we demand of ourselves.
‘This is what we do and I’m happy we can still produce results and performances. We will be on it again to be ready for Sunday.’
