Trevor Sinclair taken off air by talkSPORT after controversial Queen tweet

talkSPORT have announced that Trevor Sinclair has been taken off air while they investigate his controversial tweet about the Queen following her passing.

The popular radio station posted a statement on Twitter, which read: "Trevor Sinclair will not be on air while we carry out a thorough investigation into the circumstances and timing of his tweet. While we respect the right of Trevor Sinclair to express his opinion on his personal twitter account, talkSPORT does not endorse the tweet."

The former Manchester City attacker tweeted on Thursday following the announcement of the Queen's death: "Racism was outlawed in England in the 60's & it's been allowed to thrive so why should black and brown mourn!!'". The tweet and his account have since been deleted.

talkSPORT colleague Simon Jordan responded to the post as the tweet went viral. He wrote: "'Trev, I'm really not sure that is an appropriate thought, let alone tweet. The country has lost a very significant person and respect and value should be the overriding sentiments not division!"

At the time, too talkSPORT wrote in the reply: "We have been trying to make contact with Trevor Sinclair following opinions expressed on his Twitter account. talkSPORT does not support those views expressed and is investigating the matter."

Indeed, the tweet came not long after Buckingham Palace announced the death of Her Majesty the Queen – who passed aged of 96 on Thursday evening. Fans called out Sinclair for his take and his name has gone viral since.

One wrote online: "Trevor Sinclair shouldn’t lose his job because of a tweet about the Queen. e should lose his job because he’s sh*t at it."

A second said: "Anybody following Trevor Sinclair please unfollow..he is a disgrace..Talk Sport have to get rid."

A third scathed: "I'll never listen to @talkSPORT again if Trevor Sinclair isn't sacked. Please like this tweet. The more people that like this tweet, the louder the voice. #BoycottTalksport."

Sinclair's media agents, Tongue Tied Management, later tweeted: "At a time of national mourning, Tongue Tied Management neither supports nor condones the views shared on Trevor Sinclair’s account earlier this evening. The matter will be dealt with internally."
