Trent Alexander-Arnold’s message to physio on camera suggests he’s out of Euros
Trent Alexander-Arnold could reportedly be heard telling an England physio his thigh had "gone" whilst hobbling off injured during Wednesday's 1-0 friendly win over Austria.
The Liverpool defender was a controversial inclusion in Gareth Southgate's final Euro 2020 squad on Tuesday, earning a place alongside three other right-backs in Kyle Walker, Kieran Trippier and Reece James.
But 24 hours after booking his place at the major tournament, Alexander-Arnold was forced to limp out of the Three Lions' warm-up friendly against Austria with what appears to be a thigh injury.
When attempting to clear the ball in the closing stages of the match he could be heard letting out a huge scream before gesturing towards the bench and asking to be replaced.
And as he left the pitch, ITV believe he could be seen telling a physio something had "gone".
Alexander-Arnold will now face a race against time to be fit for England's Euro 2020 curtain raiser against Croatia on June 13.
Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate said after the win: “We’re going to have a little look.
"It’s obviously not good to see him having to come off in the way he did, but we’ll have to assess him over the next 24 hours.
“I think (it’s his) thigh, but the medical team are still assessing it.
“We’ll just have to see, it’s not a good sign to see him walk off in the way that he did, so we’ll know more in the next 24 or 48 hours.
“We don’t know the full extent, so the last thing you want is to see him come off in the way that he did.”
Southgate will now be sweating over Alexander-Arnold's fitness ahead of this summer's delayed tournament, with a big decision potentially required over who will replace him in the final 26-man squad.
