Trent Alexander-Arnold ‘wants to be David Beckham’ with bold new haircut

Trent Alexander-Arnold's new hairstyle has reminded fans of a young David Beckham – as have the Liverpool defender's recent performances.

The 24-year-old started both England's Euro 2024 qualifiers of the current international break in a right-sided midfield role, scoring and assisting to leave spectators applauding. Now taking some time away from the pitch at Paris Fashion Week, also attended by Jude Bellingham, he has shown off a new braided style.

Fans were divided over the new style, with many loving his usual look which was on display as England beat North Macedonia 7-0 on Monday. One reply said with a snap of Beckham from 2003: "Run it back." A second posted: "Trent entering his Beckham arc."

A third added: "He is reborn as a midfielder." One less bothered follower posted: "I really don’t care about his haircut as long as he performs on the pitch."

"I hadn't thought them through. The topknot wasn’t too bad but the cornbraids were a bad decision.

"It was bad timing as well as I was going to South Africa at the time with England and ended up meeting Nelson Mandela so that’s why I regret that one."

Alexander-Arnold's own focus will be on helping Liverpool back to major honours next season – with Gareth Southgate hinting he could stay in midfield for his country.

He said: "We talked about it about four weeks ago on the phone, and I think he’s been excited by it and, yeah, he showed exactly what we think he could be capable of.

"He gives us something different to our other midfield players."
