Transfer news LIVE on Deadline Day with latest on Liverpool, Man Utd and Arsenal

The January transfer window slams shut tonight – but there is still plenty of time for some last-minute deals to go through.

Liverpool's desperation for a centre-half appears set to pay off with an agreement reached for the capture of Ben Davies from Preston.

But the Reds may not stop there as they could bring in more than one new face amid their injury crisis.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are trying to offload a couple more fringe players with Sergio Romero and Marcos Rojo's Old Trafford careers over.

Arsenal are after a left-back to provide cover for Kieran Tierney, and Crystal Palace's Patrick van Aanholt is on their radar.

Whether Thomas Tuchel will throw up any surprises at Chelsea, too, remains to be seen.

What you can be sure of, though, is that Daily Star Sport will have all the biggest updates for you on February 1 in one of the most open seasons yet in terms of the battles for the title and race for European football.

Billy Gilmour talks

Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour has not featured since Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge.

The midfielder could leave west London on loan today with West Ham and Bournemouth having been previously linked.

Gilmour is eager to force his way into Scotland’s plans for this summer’s Euros and the Mail claim he is in talks over a potential loan to Southampton.

The Saints are believed to be looking for competition in midfield for the second half of the Premier League season.

Second centre-back for Liverpool?

Liverpool may sign another centre-back today as well as Ben Davies.

Davies, 25, will undergo a medical today before completing the move ahead of tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.

The Reds have registered their interest in Marseille centre-back Duje Caleta-Car.

The 24-year-old may not be cleared to leave the Ligue 1 side though as they need to sign a replacement.
